About the Role
As a Senior Catastrophe Risk Analyst, you will work alongside a team of technical experts to evaluate natural catastrophe exposures, enhance modeling capabilities, and contribute to the development of automation tools and analytics. This is a hybrid position, offering a mix of in-office and remote work, and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide catastrophe risk assessments to underwriters for commercial property submissions.
• Perform data quality checks and cleansing on exposure data received from brokers and clients.
• Augment and enrich datasets to improve the accuracy of risk evaluations.
• Utilize catastrophe modeling platforms and analytical tools to assess risk, identify key drivers, and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Develop and present insights that enhance portfolio understanding and support strategic decision-making.
• Improve automation processes and build tools to streamline data integration and reporting.
• Contribute to the evaluation of new market opportunities, technologies, and modeling tools.
• Support the development and maintenance of internal tools using programming languages.
Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in property & casualty insurance, with a focus on catastrophe modeling or exposure management.
• Strong programming skills, with fluency in SQL required.
• Experience with Python, C#, or similar languages for automating workflows and data pipelines.
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, finance, economics, business, or computer science.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a detail-oriented mindset.
